Construction Sector Revamp Is A Priority: AP CM Chandrababu

Friday, January 10, 2025

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu criticized the previous governments, stating that they had pushed all sectors into decline and turned the state into a hub of problems. He assured that his government is committed to reviving the construction sector, which was in a dire state.

Inaugurating the NAREDCO Property Show at Chebrolu Hanumayya Grounds in Guntur, Chandrababu addressed the gathering and outlined his government’s focus on the sector’s growth.

“I wish for rapid development in the construction sector in the new year. Under the previous government’s rule, this sector was left in shambles. The people trusted us with a 93% strike rate victory, and we immediately began rebuilding the state after assuming power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Visakhapatnam and inaugurated projects worth ₹2 lakh crore. The brand of Andhra Pradesh is slowly moving forward,” Chandrababu said.

He highlighted that the construction sector provides livelihood to 34 lakh people and added that the free sand policy introduced by his government gave a significant boost to the industry. Chandrababu urged organizations like NAREDCO and CREDAI to work collaboratively with the government to resolve real estate issues.

He accused the previous YSRCP government of damaging the construction sector the most. “We prioritized the sector as soon as we came to power. We’re witnessing an unprecedented number of land-related complaints. The illegal activities during the YSRCP rule are the primary cause of these issues. We will take strict action against land grabbers,” he warned.

Chandrababu also mentioned that some people incurred losses due to TDR bonds issued during the previous regime. “We are working toward achieving the Swarna Andhra Vision Document. Since we took charge, we have signed investment deals worth ₹4 lakh crore. Our goal is to provide employment to 20 lakh people over the next five years,” the Chief Minister concluded.
