Vikarabad: Inspector General (IG) Satyanarayana has raised objections to BRS leader and former Kodangal MLA Patnam Narendra Reddy conducting a press conference while on conditional bail. Speaking at a media briefing held at the Parigi CI office in Vikarabad district, the IG stated that holding a press meet in a manner that could influence the ongoing investigation was inappropriate. He further added that the court would be approached to seek the cancellation of Reddy’s bail.
Detailing the case, the IG clarified, “We deployed 230 police personnel for security at Lagacharla. Suresh had escorted the collector into the village as per his plan, and it is incorrect to allege a failure of police surveillance. Narendra Reddy’s arrest was in connection with the attack on the collector and not related to the pharma land acquisition issue. None of the suspects in custody were mistreated. Individuals unrelated to the incident were released after being taken into custody in three phases.”
The IG criticized the spread of misinformation, stating, “False statements during press meets must be avoided. No government directs officials to handcuff farmers. We have a voice recording of Suresh, which confirms he orchestrated the entire incident. It will be revealed at the appropriate time.”
The IG also noted that Narendra Reddy has refused to provide his phone password and, along with Suresh, is not cooperating with the investigation.
