The Kadapa Municipal Corporation general meeting was once again turned into a battle. Local TDP MLA Madhavi Reddy, who attended the meeting, was again insulted by the YCP’s Mayor Suresh Babu without providing her a chair on the dais.

MLA Madhavi Reddy and TDP corporators protested against the mayor’s behavior. Amidst the chaos, the YSRCP ruling party approved the agenda and the Mayor adjourned the meeting after approving the agenda. In the last meeting she was also insulted like this.

MLA Madhavireddy expressed her deep anger over the mayor’s behavior. She lamented that during the YSRCP regime, two MLAs used to be given chairs on either side of the mayor, and that the practice had changed after the TDP won the Kadapa and Kamalapuram seats in the elections.

Madhavi Reddy deplored that she was being insulted as a woman MLA. When asked about the discrimination in the matter of the chair, the Mayor said that it was his discretionary power. She lamented  that the mayor was afraid that his chair would be pulled if TDP MLA was given respect.

TDP MLA alleged that the development of Kadapa was being hampered and that the corruption that took place here should be discussed. She said that the Mayor avoided conducting the meeting fearing his corrupt practices would be discussed.  The MLA stood up due to the lack of a chair. This has led to heated arguments between TDP and YSRCP corporators bringing chaos with mutual slogans.

Meanwhile, Mayor Suresh Babu announced that seven corporators who had joined the TDP from the YSRCP were being suspended for disrupting the meeting. TDP members demanded that the YSRCP corporators be suspended as well. The mayor adjourned the meeting to the afternoon amid chaos.

On the other hand, activists who had accompanied Madhavi Reddy protested outside the municipal corporation office after the MLA was not given a chair. They shouted slogans saying, “Mayor down, down.” They demanded that women be respected.

Police security was put in place during the municipal corporation general body meeting. Section 144 was imposed in the vicinity of the office. The agitation continued as usual even after the meeting began in the afternoon.

MLA Madhavi Reddy once again lashed out at the mayor’s behavior. Amidst this chaos, Mayor Suresh Babu announced that he had approved six items on the agenda and left the meeting. Later, MLA Madhavi Reddy and TDP Polit Bureau member Srinivasa Reddy held a media conference at the party office and lamented Mayor Suresh Babu’s behavior.
