TDP Leaders Strongly Oppose Alla Nani’s Entry: Internal Strife Brewing

Monday, December 23, 2024

Alla Nani is synonymous with the constituency for many decades as a seasoned politician and a prominent figure in Eluru politics. Born in a political family that started his political journey within the Congress party, later joining the YSRCP, he held a position of minister in the party, but this time, faced a setback when he lost in the previous elections. After his defeat, he declared a temporary political retirement. However, this is the latest indication from his camp that he was getting ready to make another comeback, this time behind the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) flag.

The decision to welcome Alla Nani into the TDP has reportedly been approved by the party’s leadership, but it has ignited opposition within the party’s local cadre. Several TDP leaders and workers in Eluru are raising concerns, alleging that Nani’s actions during his tenure with the YSRCP caused considerable damage to the party. Eluru TDP MLA Badeti Radhakrishna has openly opposed Nani’s entry, reflecting the growing dissatisfaction among party members.

Adding to the controversy are Eswari Balaram, a former Eluru Municipal Chairperson, and her husband, Balaram. The couple, once close allies of the YSRCP, shifted their allegiance to the TDP after falling out with Nani. They accuse him of obstructing Eswari’s chances of securing a second term as Chairperson, which they claim was a pivotal moment that strained their relationship. The couple played an instrumental role in Nani’s electoral defeat and are reportedly discontented with his potential inclusion in the TDP.

Speculation is rife that Eswari Balaram and her husband might consider rejoining the YSRCP, as they share a strong rapport with Kotagiri Sridhar, a senior YSRCP leader in the region. If this happens, it could further complicate the political dynamics in Eluru.

Nani’s re-entry into the TDP is likely to trigger significant political realignments, with escalating tensions between local factions and possible internal discord within the party. As discussions and debates heat up, the coming days are expected to shed more light on how this controversial move will reshape Eluru’s political landscape.
