The Telangana Assembly sessions continued on a heated note on Saturday, focusing on the “Rythu Bharosa” scheme. BRS working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) issued a strong challenge to the Congress government, questioning its claims on farmer welfare and rural development.
KTR dared the Congress to prove complete loan waiver implementation in any village in the state. He went further, declaring that he would resign as an MLA in the Speaker’s format and retire from politics if the Congress met the challenge.
Criticizing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Congress leadership, KTR alleged that farmers had been left without support under Congress governance. He claimed the government failed to provide financial assistance for two crop seasons, leaving farmers with unpaid dues of ₹17,000 each and a cumulative debt of ₹26,000 crore.
KTR also lambasted the Congress for its claims of providing 24-hour power supply, suggesting that the Assembly be adjourned for an on-ground assessment in Nalgonda district. He announced that if uninterrupted electricity was proven, the entire BRS legislative team would resign.
Calling for immediate action, KTR demanded the clearance of farmers’ dues and the introduction of a new “Rythu Bharosa” initiative. He urged Congress to fulfill its election promises and requested the Speaker to extend the Assembly session by 10 days to allow discussions on crucial issues, including power supply, irrigation, and the Mission Bhagiratha scheme.
