Uproar and ruly scenes witnessed in the Telangana assembly on Friday, after BRS MLAs alleged that Congress MLA Veerlapalli Shankar showed them his shoes in the House. They were angry that Dalit MLAs were shown shoes. BRS leaders demanded that an SC and ST case be registered against the Shadnagar MLA.
This caused chaos in the Assembly. BRS members rushed towards the Speaker’s podium. They were stopped by marshals. A scuffle broke out between BRS and Congress members. Water bottles and papers were thrown at each other. Suddenly there was chaos in the House. As a result, the Assembly Speaker adjourned the House for 15 minutes.
Congress members say that Bodh MLA Anil Jadhav threw a bundle of papers at the Speaker. Korutla MLA Sanjay Kumar also tore the papers and threw them. T. Harish Rao went to the steps of the Speaker’s podium. When Padi Kaushik Reddy rushed towards the Congress MLAs, Congress MLA Veerlapalli Shankar raised his hand and warned them.
BRS members demanded that an SC and ST case be registered against the Shadnagar MLA. Congress MLAs say that BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy behaved in the House in a way that insulted the Dalit Speaker. They demanded an apology. BRS MLAs attended the Assembly with black badges and placards.
BRS MLAs protested that illegal cases were being registered only because they questioned the 420 fake promises made by the Congress. They displayed placards and raised slogans saying that the case against Formula- E Race is illegal. BRS leaders gave an adjournment resolution for a discussion on this formula car racing.
BRS leaders are demanding an immediate discussion on this issue in the House. With this, the Assembly has become a battlefield. On this occasion, former minister and Siddipet MLA Tanniru Harish Rao questioned why not a single minister was present in the House.
He said that this shows the Assembly means how much respect ministers have. He said that they will cooperate in the smooth conduct of the House only if a clear guarantee is given for the discussion on Formula E car racing. As a case has been filed against a member, he said that member be given an opportunity to tell the truth while the House is in session.
Harish Rao said that the case filed against KTR is completely illegal. Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad said that a decision will be taken after talking to the members after the discussion on the Bhu Bharathi Bill is completed. He advised that it is not right to waste the time of the House for one member.
