In a strategic step towards consolidation of its political position, YSR Congress Party has chosen former MP Gorantla Madhav as official spokesperson for Andhra Pradesh. The central office of the party on Thursday announced this after getting directives from Chief Minister and party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
YS Jagan has been personally meeting with district leaders in order to restructure the party’s leadership and build its organizational strength at every level. As part of this exercise, the party is reshuffling district and constituency in-charges and entrusting important positions to senior leaders in the state committee. Leaders who have good communication skills and can effectively counter political opponents are being handpicked for spokesperson roles.
On Thursday, after a detailed meeting with united Anantapur district party leaders, Jagan declared Gorantla Madhav as the spokesperson for the district.
Gorantla Madhav’s Journey from Police Officer to Politician
Gorantla Madhav was a Circle Inspector in the Anantapur district before he ventured into politics. His boldness and frank nature made him a household name when he dared challenge senior political leader JC Diwakar Reddy.
In 2018, Madhav had a huge professional departure when he decided on voluntary retirement from police service and took over by joining YSRCP. The politician soon grabbed every possible eyeball because of the very beginning as now a stalwart figure with YSRCP.
Before general election 2019 in 2019, Mr. Madhav chose the seat from Lok sabha constituency Hindupur. There he successfully wrestled an accomplished victory in polls from experienced TDP chief and ex-member parliament Mr. Nimmala Kishstappa.
Well-chosen Position
Gorantla Madhav’s appointment as the party’s official spokesperson has been seen as a strategic move to leverage his good public speaking skills and the capacity to take on political rivals with conviction. His grassroots connection and past leadership experience are expected to play a crucial role in amplifying the YSRCP’s voice in Andhra Pradesh’s political landscape.
With Madhav entering this critical position, the YSRCP continues to build a strong team to counter opposition narratives and strengthen its presence across the state.
