Former Chief Minister and YCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who was known for his proximity with Narendra Modi-led NDA, is seems to be feeling a sense of isolation after Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP and Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena became crucial partners of the central government.
As a result, Jaganmohan Reddy is believed to be in search of some other political alternative at the national level. However, as his sister YS Sharmila, who turned to be his foe heading the APCC, he is unlikely to ally with the Congress. As several INDIA bloc partners are coming out supporting West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Benarjee to head the INDIA Bloc, YCP leadership is also reportedly showing keen interest to stand behind her.
After Mamata Banerjee announced that she is ready to lead the INDIA bloc at a time several of its constituent parties are unhappy with the Congress performance in both Haryana and Maharashtra, many parties unexpectedly supported her. It can be said that the regional parties in the INDIA bloc are favouring Didi’s leadership.
Currently, the INDIA bloc is on the verge of splitting. The Aam Aadmi Party is not ready to work with Congress. Congress ignored AAP in Haryana elections. Now AAP is ignoring Congress in Delhi. In this order, they want regional party leaders to lead the alliance and not Congress. People like Lalu Prasad Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav are supporting this demand.
Other parties are also okay, which means there is a possibility of a change in leadership. The Congress party also thinks that there is a chance to examine the possibility of giving the responsibility of building an alliance to regional parties on this issue.
Interestingly, YCP leader Vijayasai Reddy has announced that it would be good if Didi led the INDIA bloc. His comment is indicating that the YCP is ready to associate with the INDIA bloc, if Congress is kept away from its leadership.
It is interesting to recall that recently when YCP held a dharna in Delhi, except Congress all INDIA bloc allies leaders were present and conveyed their solidarity.
