Telangana Farmers Not Getting Loan waiver Money Even After 10 Days!

Wednesday, December 18, 2024

Telangana farmers are worried as even after 10 days since the government announced the fourth tranche of loan waiver, no money has been deposited in their bank accounts. It is learnt that the situation is similar in almost all districts.

The government has provided the list of those eligible for loan waiver to banks and villages. It is reported that the money will be given later. It is learnt that in some areas, money has only just started being deposited.

The Congress government, which claimed that it had implemented many welfare schemes for farmers along with loan waivers within a year, held victory celebrations in the name of Rythu Panduga in Mahabubnagar on November 30. In this assembly, CM Revanth Reddy announced that the fourth tranche of loan waiver worth Rs. 2747.67 crore had been done for 3.13 lakh farmers.

In this regard, CM Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Tummala and other ministers personally presented loan waiver cheques to the farmers. But, there are criticisms that the cheque given in the assembly for the campaign has turned into a void cheque.

The government, which rushed to announce loan waiver on the occasion of the farmers’ festival, has not released the funds. Farmers are rushing to the banks after CM Revanth Reddy announced that all loans up to Rs. 2 lakh have been waived. They are contacting the officials to find out whether they have been waived.

However, lists of farmers whose loans have been waived have already been sent to the villages. When the farmers whose names are on the list went to the banks, they were disappointed. They are turning away in disappointment after the bank officials said that the loan waiver money has not been deposited.

The government, which announced that all farmers had been waived off loans up to Rs. 2 lakh, is not giving any clarity regarding the loan waiver of more than Rs. 2 lakh. It is not even known when these loans will be waived. So far, the government has waived off loans worth Rs. 20,616 crore to 25.35 lakh farmers in four installments.

In fact, according to the government’s calculations, the government itself announced that 42 lakh farmers eligible for a loan waiver of Rs. 2 lakh would require Rs. 31,000 crore. However, so far, only Rs. 20,616 crore has been waived for 25.35 lakh farmers. Another Rs. 10,384 crore is to be waived for 16.65 lakh farmers.
