Relief to Tollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma as Andhra Pradesh High Court grants him conditional anticipatory bail in a string of cases relating to his offending social media posts. It is alleged that the offending posts, shared during the tenure of YSR Congress Party government, intended to promote his political drama Vyuham, carry remarks against the prominent political leaders Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh and Pawan Kalyan. This ended with the registration of three cases, one of which was filed in Maddipadu, Prakasam district.
Initially, Varma sought protection from arrest by approaching the High Court. However, the court advised him to file an anticipatory bail petition instead. Despite being summoned multiple times by the Maddipadu police, the filmmaker did not appear for questioning, leading the police to prepare for his arrest. In response, Varma filed a plea seeking to quash the cases and requested directives to prevent further legal actions against him.
In its ruling, the High Court granted Varma anticipatory bail under specific conditions. He has been instructed to fully cooperate with the investigation and respond to police summonses when required. This decision provides Varma temporary respite while ensuring his participation in the ongoing legal proceedings.
