The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has honored R. Krishnaiah, the former Rajya Sabha member and national president of the BC Association, by naming him as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Andhra Pradesh. Krishnaiah recently switched allegiance from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to the BJP.
Previously, he served in the Rajya Sabha as a member representing the YSRCP but resigned from both his membership and the party after the elections concluded.
In addition, the BJP leadership has announced Rekha Sharma as its Rajya Sabha candidate from Haryana and Sujit Kumar from Odisha.
Notably, along with R. Krishnaiah, leaders such as Mopidevi Venkataramana and Beda Mastan Rao also resigned from the YSRCP. Mopidevi and Beda Mastan Rao have since joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
