As ‘Pushpa 2’ frenzy struck the entire nation on the eve of its grand release today, tragedy struck a family which came to witness the Allu Arjun mania on the big screen at the famous Sandhya theatre near RTC Crossroads in Hyderabad. A woman named Revathi fell unconscious and succumbed to injuries after a stampede like situation erupted at the theatre. She passed away on way to the hospital.
As per reports, a special screening of Pushpa 2 was organised in the midnight on Thursday and thousands of people thronged Sandhya 70MM screens because Allu Arjun also attended the premiere show to watch the film with his fans. The uncontrollable crowd resulted in utter chaos at the theatre and turned into a stampede.
Revathi, a resident of Dilsukh Nagar in Hyderabad came to Sandhya theatre to watch the film with her family. Her husband Bhaskar and two kids aged 7 years and 9 years also accompanied Revathi. Due to overcrowding, Revathi fell unconscious on spot and was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she passed away on her way to hospital and doctors declared her dead.
The sad incident has marred the jubilation surrounding the release of the much anticipated sequel of the season. Condolences poured in for the loss of life due to an unfortunate incident which could have been easily avoided.
Both the kids and her husband were injured in this incident. They are admitted into hospital for medical treatment and are currently under observation.
Sources revealed that Allu Arjun was watching the film when the incident occurred. There is no announcement yet from the team on compensation for the bereaved family.
