Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has initiated the exercise to reorganize the village and ward secretariat system newly introduced by the YSRCP government in the administrative machinery of Andhra Pradesh. He is working on the issue of making it more efficient and providing services to the people.
Already, a large number of complaints have been received about the civil services provided by the secretariats, and a review has been conducted at the Chief Minister’s level on the services provided in them, coordination with government departments, and the responsibilities and powers of the secretariats.
Chandrababu Naidu hopes to bring radical changes in the village and ward secretariat system and make this system more meaningful and robust and useful for the people. He mainly discussed the need for the secretariats to be closer to the people and provide better services in villages and urban and urban areas.
In the first meeting held with the reorganization of the secretariat system as the main agenda, officials gave a presentation on the functioning of the system and the services provided to the people. The Chief Minister questioned whether the secretariats are providing direct public services.
The issue of providing excellent public services through this system and providing systematic job responsibilities to the secretariat employees was discussed and used effectively. In addition to proper utilization of human resources, the needs and facilities of the employees were also discussed.
Opinions were taken on the idea that it is not right for some of the secretariat employees to have more work and some to have less work and that everyone should have equal work responsibilities. In addition to supporting the employees according to the needs of the government, it was discussed in the meeting that they should be given departmental training.
Currently, there are 13,291 gram panchayats in the state, but only 11,162 village secretariats. There are a total of 15,004 village-ward secretariats across the state, of which 1,19,803 employees have been directly appointed. Including those from other departments, 1,27,175 people are currently working as employees in the village and ward secretariats.
