Botsa Critiques Pawan Kalyan’s Response to Kakinada Port

Wednesday, December 18, 2024

Senior YSRCP leader Botsa Satyanarayana has taken a strong stance against Pawan Kalyan, criticizing his dramatic visit to Kakinada over allegations of rice smuggling. Botsa described Pawan’s actions as an exaggerated “Gabbar Singh 3” performance, accusing him of questioning a TDP MLA while diverting attention away from his own party’s minister. Botsa compared Pawan’s zeal as a new minister to his own early days in politics, recalling his initial excitement when he signed off on the Volkswagen project in 2004.

In his address to the Legislative Council, Botsa focused on Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, stressing that it is the government’s responsibility to fulfill its election promises. He expressed concern over the rising electricity tariffs, claiming that a ₹1.20 per unit hike had cost the public an alarming ₹15,000 crores. Botsa also demanded accountability for the government’s borrowing of ₹70,000 crores in just six months, questioning how the funds were being used.

Botsa further criticized the current administration for its failure to implement meaningful welfare schemes, except for pensions. He compared this with the previous government’s spending of ₹18,200 crores on welfare programs in the previous year. Drawing attention to a decline in GST revenues and reduced purchasing power across the state, Botsa also highlighted the infighting among MLAs over resource distribution. He mocked Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for not being able to resolve these conflicts and raised concerns about the state’s new liquor policy, which he argued had led to the proliferation of illegal liquor shops.

Regarding the rice smuggling issue, Botsa condemned the illegal activity as a serious crime and demanded that authorities take swift action against those responsible. He urged the government to address any irregularities at the Kakinada port and claimed that BJP leaders had sought permissions from Delhi to facilitate the illegal rice transport. Botsa challenged these leaders to reflect on their role, adding that while Pawan Kalyan’s visit grabbed attention, the true culprits behind the rice smuggling remain unaccountable.
