The Supreme Court has given key orders in the investigation of the disproportionate assets case of YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. It has ordered the CBI and ED to provide complete details of the disproportionate assets cases within 2 weeks. It has asked them to provide details of the petitions pending in the lower courts regarding this case.
Along with this, it has suggested that the details of the ED and CBI cases be provided separately in the form of a chart. AP Deputy Speaker Raghuramkrishnam Raju had previously filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking not only the cancellation of Jagan’s bail but also the transfer of the trial of the case to another state.
The bench headed by Justice Abhay Oka heard this petition on Monday. The Supreme Court questioned the progress of the investigation of Jagan’s disproportionate assets cases. The court was informed by the lawyers of both the sides that the Telangana High Court has already ordered a daily hearing.
The Supreme Court questioned why the hearing was delayed for so many years? It questioned where there would be any hindrance even if a daily hearing was ordered? The Supreme Court clarified that a comprehensive table should be provided stating in which courts which cases were filed and at what stage of the hearing they are.
The lawyers informed the court that discharge and postponement petitions are under hearing in several courts regarding Jagan’s disproportionate assets. With this, it said that appropriate instructions will be given to the ED and CBI to provide details of the pending cases in various courts regarding this case.
The Supreme Court bench was of the opinion that if the hearing is not held despite the High Court’s order, then a definite decision should be taken on this. However, when the lawyer representing Jaganmohan Reddy requested that the case be adjourned to January, the Apex Court refused and the bench headed by Abhay Oka adjourned the case saying that the hearing will be held on December 13.
The Supreme Court bench opined that it will take a comprehensive decision after learning the details of the petitions filed in all the courts regarding Jagan’s disproportionate assets.
