The Andhra Pradesh government distributed social pensions a day early as December 1 falls on a Sunday. On November 30, pensions were delivered door-to-door across the state. Chief Minister Chandrababu participated in the distribution drive at Nemakallu village in Anantapur district, personally handing over pensions to beneficiaries.
Chandrababu visited the home of Bhagyamma, a differently-abled woman, to learn about her family’s situation and provided her a disability pension of ₹15,000. He also met Rudramma, a widow, and handed over her pension, enquiring about her well-being.
Speaking at the event, Chandrababu emphasized the government’s focus on welfare: “We aim to ensure lasting happiness for the people. Through improved pensions, we are supporting widows and differently-abled individuals with dignity. Our coalition government is committed to uplifting marginalized communities.”
The Chief Minister highlighted that pensions were increased as per election promises, with arrears calculated from April. Andhra Pradesh now provides pensions to 64 lakh beneficiaries, disbursing ₹18,000 crore over the past five months.
Chandrababu also introduced measures allowing pensions to be withdrawn every three months to benefit daily laborers and workers. He underlined that Andhra Pradesh leads the country in providing the highest pension amounts and ensured zero corruption in the distribution process.
Focus on Anantapur Development
Sharing his bond with Anantapur, Chandrababu said:
“Anantapur holds a special place in my heart. I had promised to provide water for crops and transform Rayalaseema into a prosperous region. Though Rayadurg was once backward, we have taken measures to prevent it from becoming barren. Our government is committed to bringing light into the lives of Rayadurg residents.”
He detailed significant investments in Rayalaseema projects, including ₹4,500 crore for the Handri-Neeva project and ₹12,500 crore for other regional projects. Chandrababu assured the timely completion of the Nemakallu project as part of the development initiatives in the area.
