AP Govt To Announce SVBC Chairman Soon: Four Candidates In The Running

Thursday, December 26, 2024

The Andhra Pradesh coalition government is focused on filling several key positions that remain pending, drawing significant public and political interest. After completing two phases of appointments and forming the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board, attention has now shifted to prestigious roles such as MLC nominations, Rajya Sabha seats, and the highly sought-after Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC) Chairman position. Notably, film industry personalities have emerged as potential contenders, with reports suggesting that Pawan Kalyan and Nandamuri Balakrishna are backing specific candidates.

Since assuming office, the coalition government has been deliberate in distributing these influential posts, ensuring representation from all three alliance parties. Prominent media figure B.R. Naidu was recently appointed to the TTD Board, reflecting this inclusive approach. However, the SVBC Chairman role has become a focal point of competition, alongside other key positions like the Sri Venkateswara Employees’ Training Academy (SVETA) Chairman.

Other roles within SVBC, such as CEO, advisor, and chief consultant, also remain unfilled, adding to the anticipation. Historically, figures like Raghavendra Rao and Saikrishna Yachendra have held the Chairman position, with political changes often influencing these appointments. Currently, names like Murali Mohan, Ashwini Dutt, and Rajendra Prasad are under consideration, while it is widely speculated that candidates supported by Pawan Kalyan and Balakrishna are strong contenders.

Deliberations are ongoing regarding whether the SVBC Chairman role should be allocated to the same community as the TTD Chairman or be given to a different group to ensure broader representation. Sources suggest that Balakrishna has proposed a veteran from the film industry, while Pawan Kalyan’s recommendations are also being closely evaluated. The government is expected to finalize the appointment by early December. Meanwhile, Janasena leaders in Tirupati are optimistic about securing the SVETA Chairman post, heightening the suspense around these influential appointments.
