Tollywood’s controversial director Ram Gopal Varma who is not new to offending people on his social media pages has landed himself in trouble this time. Varma had recently gained attention by targeting Chandrababu, Pawan Kalyan and Nara Lokesh for his promotional activity of a movie. His remarks invited a complaint from Maddipadu of Prakasam district, the police issued notices to him to appear before them for questioning.
He did not respond to the first notice and, therefore, the police sent him the second one today demanding his presence for further inquiry. Earlier, when the police had issued similar notices in Hyderabad, Varma had sent his lawyer in his place and requested additional time. The authorities gave him six more days, but despite being scheduled to appear today, Varma today filed a bail petition with the Andhra Pradesh High Court, fearing arrest.
Earlier, Varma had sought protection from arrest in the High Court, but the court clarified that it wouldn’t intervene in the matter. While his bail petition was still under review, Varma communicated to Maddipadu police that he would not be able to attend the inquiry. Taking a cue from the High Court’s stance, the police have now left for Hyderabad to take further action, which may include his arrest.
