Home Minister Anitha revealed that strict action will be taken to seize the properties of ganja criminals along with filing cases against them. She said that if they do not have any properties, their Aadhaar and ration cards will be seized.

She lamented that ganja has increased rampantly during the last five years of YSRCP rule and profiling is being done with the details of the criminals to prevent blade batch raids. The minister answered the questions raised by MLAs Adireddy Srinivas, Reddappagari Madhavi Reddy, Sundarapu Vijay Kumar and Bhuma Akhilapriya in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday on the eradication of ganja in the state, blade batch raids and online loan apps.

Minister recalled that during Lokesh padayatra a mother had mentioned that ganja had entered the school bags of children from agency areas and how their lives had been ruined due to ganja. She alleged that check posts and CCTV cameras were not properly set up to curb the transportation of marijuana during the YSRCP regime.

Anitha said that 25,000 kg of marijuana have been seized due to the steps taken after the coalition government came to power. Cases have been registered against 916 people, and in the recent incident where a pharmacist provided marijuana to an accused in Rajahmundry jail, intelligence officials arrested him and sent him to jail.

Minister Anitha said that along with the eradication of marijuana, awareness programs are being conducted to increase social responsibility among the people. In addition, the minister mentioned the losses caused by loan apps. The minister said that 212 people have been identified as victims in the state so far due to loan apps, and 8 people have committed suicide due to threats related to these apps.

She said that 456 fake loan apps have been identified on Google Playstore and action is being taken. It was revealed that 199 people who were involved in harassment have been arrested and sent to remand. She also said that 1,138 mobile spam call numbers involved in illegal collections and harassment have been identified, a complaint has been filed with the Telecom Director and they have been blocked.

Minister Anita said that a wider discussion should be held in the context of the fact that not only the uneducated but also the educated are being forced into the trap of loan apps.
