Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer Shyamala Rao announced that preparations are being made to set up a comprehensive planning system that reflects spirituality in terms of preserving the sanctity of the Tirumala divine shrine. He said that the system will be a modern version of the Tirumala Development Plan proposal of five years ago.
He said they have noticed that the monitoring system after giving permission for constructions from the beginning was lacking, which is why it is clear that some constructions have been allowed to take place in Tirumala against the rules. On the other hand, he said that there is no structural plan suitable for future needs.
He recalled that as part of the effort made to formulate the Tirupati Development Plan in 2019, efforts were made to formulate a master plan for Tirumala through a private consultancy called Lee Associates. However, he said that most of the elements in it reflect the conditions of 2017, so the current TTD Board of Trustees has decided to modernize and reconstruct the plan to suit the current situation and the needs of the next 25 years.
He said that in accordance with that decision, preparations will be made to develop the Tirumala Kshetra keeping in mind the future needs in terms of spirituality. He said that for this, a senior officer who is an expert in the relevant field has been selected, and an urban development planning system will be set up under his leadership.
He said that a vision document will be prepared through that system in the next two months, discussed in the board and implemented. He said that before implementing the document in the next six months, there will be a comprehensive study of the issues in it, a review with the relevant sections, and opinion gathering.
He clarified that action will be taken on the construction of the monasteries that have been undertaken as desired. He further said that there will be issues like parking problems in Tirumala, relocation of Balaji bus stand, changing of names of Guest houses with names of individuals, review of construction and boundaries of Mathas and Guest houses, construction of a separate waste management system, etc.
He explained that priority will be given to ensuring that the constructions undertaken and to be undertaken are in keeping with spirituality.
