The camp office of the Adani Group in Kondapuram Ragikunta village at Jammalamadugu recently became a target for the family members of local BJP MLA Adinarayana Reddy. This camp office had been established to manage the construction of a pumped storage power plant majorly undertaken by the Adani Group in that area.
This incident comes in the wake of a recent warning given by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to MLA Adinarayana Reddy related to certain issues prevailing in the constituency. Despite the warning, little change took place, and the attack on the staff of Adani has escalated the unrest in the district.
Adani is constructing a 1000 MW pumped storage power plant on 470 acres of the area in Kondapuram. As the work progressed, MLA Adinarayana Reddy’s family members Shivanarayana Reddy and Rajesh Reddy have locked horns with the Adani representatives. The fracas started as a verbal spat, and the MLA family and its henchmen pelted stones and attacked the camp office staff.
However, the assailants are accused of attempting to extort money from the company. Additionally, the charges of MLA’s family intimidating industrialists in the region were growing. CM Naidu is said to have summoned MLA Adinarayana Reddy and expressed his displeasure on the issue but it remains unresolved.
In the latest development, MLA Adinarayana Reddy’s family, along with their supporters, arrived in a convoy of vehicles, went on to ransack the camp equipment and the vehicles present at the Adani camp. Adani officials have lodged complaints with both the central government and the police. The authorities are taking the matter seriously. Meanwhile, MLA Adinarayana Reddy has justified the actions of his family stating that they were merely seeking employment and rental opportunities from the company.
