Like every year, 2025 Sankranti will see a flurry of new releases. Three big-ticket films will vie at the box office during the festival season and a couple of small and medium budget movies are likely to join the race. As of now, Ram Charan’s Game Changer, Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaj and Venkatesh’s Sankranti ki Vastunnam have finalized their release dates.
Game Changer will be the first among these films to hit the screens. The Shankar Shanmugam directional will occupy the theatres on January 10th. The first look teaser generated adequate buzz and augmented the expectations on the political thriller which has Charan playing dual roles. The shooting formalities are nearing completion and the post production activities are also in full swing. Dil Raju is going to release the film in huge number of screens.
Two days after Game Changer, Nandamuri Balakrishna will offer a mass treat to the audience on January 12th with his action entertainer Daaku Maharaj. The teaser evoked a stunning response and excited the trade circles. The tremendous buzz on the film will be a big boost for the openings. Director Bobby Ravindra delivered a blockbuster for 2023 Sankranti with Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya. He hopes to repeat a similar feat this time as well.
Victory Venkatesh is targeting Sankranti for the second consecutive time with his upcoming family entertainer titled interestingly as ‘Sankranti ki Vastunnam’. His last film Saindhav tanked heavily at the box office. Director Anil Ravipudi who cultivated a habit to churn out full-length comedy capers is once again confident to provide outright laugh riot with Venky for the third time after F2 and F3. The film is slated for release on January 14th.
Besides these three star-studded films, there are a couple of dark horses which are aiming for Sankranti 2025 release. One of them is Sandeep Kishan’s Mazaka in the direction of Nakkina Trinadha Rao. The shooting part is reportedly coming to an end soon. There are rumours within the industry circles that this film might contend with Sankranti biggies. But, there is no formal announcement till now. The same is the case with Sharwanand’s Nari Nari Naduma Murari.
Besides three biggies, what all small and medium budget movies will test luck during Sankranti 2025 is yet to be known.
