AP Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan conducted an inspection of the Saraswati Power lands in Palnadu district today, accusing former Chief Minister Jagan of leveraging power for alleged land exploitation. According to Pawan, the Saraswati Power Company exemplifies such misuse, with 24 acres reportedly taken from SC families through intimidation, including 20 acres in Vemavaram Mandal alone. Pawan assured the affected farmers of his government’s full support.
Pawan further alleged that 400 acres of forest land were converted into revenue land and that 1,384 acres were acquired from local farmers, of which 1,083 acres were patta lands, with approximately half acquired through coercion. In Machavaram and Dachepalli mandals, he claimed YSRCP leaders promised education and jobs to the landowners’ children in exchange for their land.
Pawan also criticized the YSRCP for first presenting the project as a cement factory and later rebranding it as a captive power company after failing to secure the necessary approvals. He noted that while the lease for these lands was initially set at 30 years in 2009, it was extended to 50 years once YSRCP took office.
He asserted that the NDA government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu, would address these issues, with plans to cancel permissions for the power project and the cement factory. Additionally, Pawan vowed to expose the alleged misappropriations by YSRCP leaders in his campaign to protect public resources.
