BRS Working President and former minister K T Rama Rao appealed to BRS cadre for a state-wide celebration as the state Electricity Regulatory Council (ERC) has rejected the proposal to increase electricity charges. He said that the celebrations should be held as an indicator of success for stopping the burden of Rs.18500 crores on the people of the state.
He called upon the ranks of the BRS party to celebrate in the district centers and constituencies of the state. KTR said that as the government made proposals to increase power charges by Rs 18,500 crore within 10 months, they were able to convince the ERC in the public hearing to reject the same.
KTR said that this is the first time in the entire history of the common state that the ERC has rejected the charges hike proposals after listening to the reasonableness and fairness of the arguments of the main opposition.
He said that the government’s attempt to increase the electricity charges on the people of the state has been successfully placed before the ERC scientifically in a proper manner. According to party chief KCR, former power minister Jagadishwar Reddy and other senior leaders along with him asked the ERC to stop the increase in electricity charges.
In the subsequent referendum, he said that former ministers Prashant Reddy and former speaker Madhusudanachari strongly voiced their arguments on behalf of the people. KTR recalled that he himself had participated in the electricity tariff hike referendum held in Sirisilla and convinced the ERC of the people’s argument.
He commented that the manner in which the ERC controlled the government by not imposing heavy electricity burden on the people, considering the strong opposition from the people, the public opinion poll and the arguments raised by them as the main opposition. KTR thanked the ERC for standing by the people by not imposing heavy electricity burden on the people.
