On the orders of the Deputy Chief MInister Pawan Kalyan, the officials of the Forest and Revenue Departments are inspecting the lands of Saraswati Power Company, belonging to the former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s family in Palnadu district. Pawan Kalyan directed officials to examine whether streams, bends and hilly lands were given to them? Does it include forest lands?

The row over properties sharing between Jaganmohan Reddy and his sister YS Sharmila has led to the attention of the government on the `illegal allotment’ of lands to this company during the previous government. Officials toured Dachepalli and Machavaram mandals on Saturday.

Forest officials are inspecting the forest lands under Thangeda and Chennayapalem villages in Dachepalli and Machavaram mandals. Dachepalli Deputy Range Officer (DRO) Vijayalakshmi and Beat Officer Venkateshwarlu identified the boundaries and checked the records.

In 2010, Saraswati Power Company acquired around 1600 acres in Tangeda, Vemavaram and Chennayapalem villages. Villagers say that there are streams and bends in these lands. Officials have marked the boundaries between Tangeda and Chennayapalem villages at about 6 km. Forest officials have taken the cooperation of farmers of Chennayapalem village for comprehensive information.

The villagers said that there is the temple land of Regulagadda Ram and there is also a Kunta belonging to Boddu Kotamma of the same village. However, there is no complete information about the purchase of Kuntala and temple lands.

The forest officials will continue the survey by identifying the boundary stones for another two days. Machavaram Tehsildar Kshamarani said that more than four acres of government lands were found in the lands purchased by Saraswati management.

He said that 821 acres have been registered online and another 258 acres need to be registered online. He said that a full investigation will be conducted and a final report will be given by Monday evening.

Farmers said that the then collector of the combined Guntur District Collector Ramanjaneyulu promised in the 2010 referendum that they can cultivate the land until the factory is built, but the management did not allow them. As mentioned, the management did not build the factory and did not provide jobs as well.
