The previous government in Andhra Pradesh led YS Jagan Mohan Reddy tried to illegally shift the capital from Amaravati to coastal city Vishakapatnam only for political reasons but nothing else. The people of Vizag and surrounding areas didn’t accept the proposal and rejected them categorically. Jagan and his party tried their best to brand Vizag as the executive capital in the last five years, but didn’t make any efforts to develop the city. They neither attracted any investments nor took any steps to increase the image of Vizag.
The story is now completely different. Vizag is slowly turning out to be the financial capital of Andhra Pradesh even as the present dispensation aims to develop Amaravati as the sole administrative and executive capital of the state. As Vizag has got immense potential to grow as a software hub and transform into a refugee for job seekers in the technology sector, the government of Andhra Pradesh under Chandrababu Naidu is putting in all efforts to boost the image of Vizag.
IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh is turning out to be the saviour and brand ambassador of Vizag. Within six months of coming to power, Lokesh has been making every possible effort to put Vizag on the national pedestal. Already, software giant TCS announced that it will set up its establishment in Vizag and create employment for nearly 10,000 people. This announcement came as a big cheer for the people of Vizag.
Not stopping here, Lokesh is game for more investments to our state and particularly Vizag. During his ongoing visit in USA, Lokesh is having elaborate discussions with several industrialists, businessmen and technocrats belonging to renowned MNCs to welcome them to invest in Andhra Pradesh.
Lokesh announced that Andhra Pradesh government is taking steps toward decentralized development and improving the speed of doing business, with the aim to create 2 million jobs for youth over the next five years.He pointed out that Andhra Pradesh is creating a favorable investment climate, citing Kia as an example of speedy business execution.
With the aim to make Vizag as the financial capital, Lokesh announced the establishment of Aviation University and Data Center in Visakhapatnam after meeting several delegates from both these fields during his visit to San Francisco.
It looks like Lokesh is determined to transform Vizag into as a major investment destination of the state. He is pulling all stops to turn his words into action.
