Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and president of YSR Congress party YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is having a tough time after losing power in the 2024 assembly elections. While his political opponents are aiming guns at him for the irregularities committed in the last five years, his own sister Sharmila Reddy is turning out to be his biggest rival.
Though both siblings didn’t open up until recently about the reasons for the strange cold war between them, the recent developments exposed that they are involved in a long family feud over the share of properties as part of their father’s inheritance. The explosive letters exchanged between them made it very clear that both Jagan and Sharmila are at a war over distribution of properties and they are ready to go till any extent without any room for compromise.
The entire episode involving the son and the daughter of former Chief Minister Rajasekhar Reddy has become a sensation in the national media and grabbed the headlines as usually. Many stories are being aired and published by both vernacular and national media houses. But, Jagan Mohan Reddy blamed Chandrababu Naidu for exploiting the infighting in his family.
In his media interaction on Thursday, Jagan tried to downplay the bickering with her sister when he said ” Ghar Ghar ki Kahani”. He meant that these issues are in every family and it is quite common. He then appealed to the media houses like Andhra Jyothi, Eenadu and TV5 to not blow the issue out of proportion and requested to refrain from such reporting.
But, Sharmila hit out at Jagan Mohan Reddy’s generalised opinion. Later in the evening, the PCC chief reacted on Jagan’s comments and said no brother will drag his sister and his mother to the court. It is common to have issues in a household but not common to drag family into the court, slammed Sharmila.
When asked if she is likely to take up the matter to the court and wage a legal battle, Sharmila simply smiled, perhaps indicating that she has a plan of her own to counter Jagan’s intention of reclaiming assets given to Sharmila.
