The series of resignations of YCP leaders continues. Recently, it seems that another senior `fire brand’ women leader and former women commission chairperson Vasireddy Padma will leave YCP. With a leftist background, since her political journey from Praja Rajyam, she is known as an outspoken women leader and always ready to aggressively combat political opponents in support of party supreme leaders.
However, she is maintaining silence for some time. She expressed her displeasure openly after denying MLA seat in recent elections and resigned from the post of chairperson of the Women’s commission. As a chairperson of the constitutional body also she never pretends her political affiliations and is always seen in the front row in making accusations against TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and his party.
Though she was unhappy as she was not rewarded with any office after formation of the party government in 2019. Neither MLA seat was given, nor nominated as MLC. But, she had settled with the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission. However, she became angry as she had been completely ignored in the party matters.
After the election results, many senior leaders are leaving the YCP one by one, and there is a discussion that Vasireddy Padma will resign from the party. Whether she will stay away from politics or join any other party needs to be seen.
She tried miserably for a party seat in 2024 polls either to her or her husband. But YCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy refused to oblige her. Since then, she has been practically keepy away from party activities.
Vasireddy Padma, who entered politics through the Praja Rajyam Party founded by film actor Chiranjeevi, served as the official spokesperson of that party. She became popular with a forceful presentation of the party’s voice in the media.
After the 2009 elections, Chiranjeevi merged the Praja Rajyam Party with the Congress and she later joined the YCP. Here also she worked as a spokesperson of the party.
