The former government in Andhra Pradesh led by YSR Congress party under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy failed to implement many of its promises and ignored several schemes in the last one year before the general elections in the state due to lack of funds. There has been widespread criticism from engineering students all over the state because Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government didn’t release the pending 3500 Crores of college fees to the final year students in various colleges across the state.
The then Opposition parties slammed Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party for not paying heed to the problems of students. College authorities threatened students by holding back certificates and forced them to pay the pending fees even though the government didn’t release their funds. So, many of them paid their fees by taking loans and through other means.
After the government led by NDA came to power, students have been requesting Chandrababu Naidu to look into the issue and demanded immediate release of funds. Recently, Congress leader YS Sharmila also came down heavily on Jagan and Chandra Babu for ignoring the noble scheme which was the brainchild of YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
Considering the gravity of the issue, the NDA government has decided to resolve the issue very soon. IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh responded on the matter and announced that the government will soon release the pending dues and settle the matter.
He took to X and posted ” GOOD NEWS SOON!
To all our student friends: The YSRCP Govt has cheated you by not paying fee reimbursement dues to the tune of Rs.3500 crores. I’m collaborating with my colleagues in the Cabinet and Ministry to resolve this issue and assure you that you’ll hear good news very soon. I am with you”.
This news came as a big relief to all students who have been waiting for the release of fees reimbursement for the final year. Additionally, there is a growing demand from all quarters to credit the fees reimbursement money into the accounts of the college adminstration from this year which will ease the burden on students from paying them back to the management.
