He holds a unique record for having highest grossing films across all box office territories under his belt. Take any territory in India or Overseas, either Baahubali 2 or RRR will be at the top when it comes to either openings or the final collections at the end of the full run.
It is generally felt that no films in the near future can conquer the records set by both Baahubali 2 and RRR. While Baahubali 2 group grossed close to 2000 Crores worldwide, RRR holds numerous records with respect to openings in different territories. Some feel that only Rajamouli can break his own records. As SSMB29 is far away from arriving in theatres, there is point of discussion about Rajamouli’s records in the next few years.
But, if there is one film which could really challenge Rajamouli’s records, it is none other than Allu Arjun’s much awaited sequel Pushpa 2. The anticipation surrounding this Sukumar directional is nothing short of humongous as the buzz keeps growing with each passing day as we approach the release date.
Trade analysts strongly believe that Pushpa 2 has the chance to topple SS Rajamouli’s records in several territories across the country. Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 swept numerous records in North India and RRR emerged as the biggest opener of all time in the history of Indian cinema. Now, Pushpa 2 stands a chance to rewrite the box office records of Rajamouli and create a history with mind-blowing openings all over the globe.
Going by the hype surrounding Pushpa 2, the openings are likely to surpass 200 Crores. If the momentum keeps buildings and the pre-release content strike a chord with the moviegoers all over the nation, it will be a cake walk for Pushpa 2 to topple RRR from the first place and emerge as the biggest opener of all time.
Also, Pushpa 2 has the potential to smash existing records in Bollywood because of the unprecedented buzz among the Hindi audiences. In North America, which is the biggest overseas territory, Baahubali 2 is the highest grossing film with $ 20 Million in its full run. No film came closer to this blockbuster run. Pushpa 2 is targeting $ 15M there due to the strong craze. So, if the film manages to garner unanimous talk, there is a good chance for Pushpa 2 to outperform Baahubali 2.
If Pushpa 2 smashes several records, the focus will be back on Mahesh Babu’s SSMB29 for Rajamouli to chase the milestones set by Allu Arjun.
