TDP Leader Accuses Jagan of Squandering Public Funds for Luxuries

Wednesday, October 16, 2024
TDP National Official Spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhiram has made serious allegations against Andhra Pradesh former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, claiming that he has spent hundreds of thousands of crores on luxuries during his tenure. Speaking at a press conference today at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) central office in Mangalagiri, Pattabhiram criticized Jagan for the visible signs of extravagance evident every day.
He cited examples such as the Tadapati Palace and luxurious bathtubs at the Rushikonda Palace, asserting that funds were frivolously spent on everything from cabinets to massage tables. “He has consumed funds that should have benefited the poor and diverted them to his personal treasury to finance his lavish lifestyle. A massive iron fence has been erected around the Tadapati Palace. Has any Chief Minister or Prime Minister ever constructed such a barrier?” he questioned.
Pattabhiram described the iron fence surrounding the Tadapati Palace as standing approximately 25-30 feet tall. He noted that many poor families in close proximity to Jagan’s residence have managed to build homes through hard work and savings. “Jagan has demolished their houses to ensure he does not see their faces, instead constructing roads and greenery with designer lights. He has not allowed any common citizen to access those roads,” he alleged.
He compared the iron fencing to the Great Wall of China, stating that people are astonished by such an extravagant display. “No one in the world has erected such a fence around their home. According to official information released by the GAD, ₹12.85 crore was spent on this iron fence. In the name of security, houses in Amarareddy Colony were demolished overnight, leaving 318 poor families homeless. On the day of the demolitions, women were dragged out without any consideration,” he said.
Pattabhiram further criticized Jagan’s expenditures, questioning if being fearful warranted spending ₹12.85 crore on security. “In the past, Hitler had similar tendencies. There are no such fences around the President’s House. Is Jagan more VIP than the President of India? Such iron fences are not found around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence either.”
He drew parallels to the palaces of Gaddafi in Libya and Saddam Hussein in Iraq, suggesting that only those who oppress people and act as dictators resort to such measures. He noted that during the previous TDP government, hundreds of people attended Lokesh’s public court at N. Chandrababu Naidu’s residence, highlighting true public administration.
Pattabhiram also pointed out other significant expenditures attributed to Jagan, claiming he misused nearly ₹5,000 crore of public funds. This includes ₹3,000 crore for various fields, ₹700 crore for surveys featuring Jagan’s images, ₹600 crore for a luxury building at Rushikonda, and ₹500 crore for advertisements in Sakshi newspaper, among others.
“Demanding the return of government furniture worth crores, he responds that he will write a cheque. It’s not about writing a cheque; it’s about accountability for the ₹5,000 crore misused. When furniture was allocated to the then-Speaker Kodela Shivaprasad, unfounded allegations were made against him, and he was portrayed as a thief, leading to mental anguish,” Pattabhiram added.
He concluded by questioning Jagan, “You have become responsible for the death of our beloved leader Kodela Shivaprasad by falsely accusing him. What do you have to say now about the ₹5,000 crore you squandered from public funds?”
