AP Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav has written a letter to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu requesting to change the name of YSR district to “YSR Kadapa District”. He detailed the historical importance of `Kadapa’ name.
God Kadapa is a famous shrine in Kadapa district of Rayalaseema. A great shrine of Srinivasa, the primordial mystic. He said in that letter that Srivaru Srilakshmi Venkateswara Swamy has incarnated in this temple and it is famous as Hanumat Kshetra.
Earlier this whole area used to be the home of Rakshasa, and it is known that Hanuman, the demon lord, appeared as Maschyavatara to remove the evil of demons from the people of this area. After that, Kripacharyas came to this area on a pilgrimage and stayed at Hanumat Kshetra, from where they wanted to go to Tirumala and visit Sri Venkateswara Swamy.
“But due to some circumstances, they could not move forward. The Kripacharyas disappeared due to their desire to see the Lord. But.. they got the realization of the Lord and became grateful. Since then, the Kripacharyas named this area as Kripavati. That grace became known as Kurupa.., Kudapaga Kramepi Kadapa,” Satyakumar added.
He said that Kripacharyas who got the darshan of Srivaru installed the image of Tirumala Srivaru here for the devotees who could not go to Tirumala Kshetra. He reminded that the idol of Hanuman was also installed as per the order of Srivaru. Since then, it has become a custom for devotees who go to Tirumala to visit Lord Kadapa first before going to Tirumala.
The minister criticized that Kadapa, which has such a historical background and spiritual significance, was renamed as YSR district by the previous government without understanding the importance. Satyakumar Yadav said that he had mentioned the same in the previous assembly meetings saying that the devotees of Srivaru were hurt by the name change.
Satyakumar Yadav on the historical background of Kadapa district said that YS Rajasekhar Reddy worked a lot for the development of Kadapa district during his tenure as CM. So, he appealed to Chandrababu Naidu to change the name of YSR district to `YSR Kadapa district’ keeping in view the development done by YSR.
