NTR’s Devara is taking advantage of solo release at the box office. Despite securing underwhelming reviews and below par word of mouth on the opening day, the film has exceeded the expectations of trade pundits with an impressive run so far in all territories. In some areas like North America, Devara has already emerged as a blockbuster as it entered the profit zone even before the end of first week. In remaining regions, the film has been making good strides taking advantage of the Gandhi Jayanti after a great first weekend.
Surprisingly, the Hindi version of Devara outperformed all expectations. Even though there are hardly any promotions and without a direct Hindi version, the collections of Devara in North India are quite amazing. The first day morning shows painted a bleak picture with low occupancies. In a dramatic turn around, the footfalls gained momentum over the weekend and the film zoomed past the 25 Crore net mark by end of Sunday. To be precise, Devara collected 26.50 Crores net.
Not stopping here, Devara remained steady on weekdays as well with decent walk-ins on Monday and Tuesday. Taking advantage of Gandhi Jayanti holiday, the Koratala Siva directional received another boost to the numbers on Wednesday as the total is now past 40 Crores with the addition of 6.50 Crores net. It looks like the film will surpass the 50 Crore mark by the end of second weekend.
Comparing with Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa which was a runaway hit in Bollywood during COVID era, Devara also put on a sensational show in North America. But, Pushpa sustained in the long run and surpassed the 100 Crore mark in the end. The film ended its run with 106 Crores run.
Now, the question is whether Devara can repeat a similar feat like Pushpa. Though trade analysts believe that it is a not an easy task, the magic figure cannot be ruled out. We have to see how it performs in the second week to decide the range.
