Expressing concern over delay in providing relief to the flood affected people, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials that the relief should reach all the victims by October 4. The CM reviewed with the disaster management department officials at the secretariat and directed the victims who did not receive the financial package due to technical reasons to resolve the problem immediately and deposit cash in their accounts.

Due to various reasons including lack of Aadhaar seeding, non-upload of KYC in banks and incorrect details obtained by the staff, the flood relief did not reach several people. CM Chandrababu directed the officials to solve the problems of all such people immediately and deposit financial assistance in their accounts.

Officials said that till now Rs.588.59 crores have been deposited in the accounts of the beneficiaries for the distribution of Rs. 602 crores compensation. Of this, Rs. 301 crores are being paid to the farmers under crop damage compensation. The remaining houses and shops are being given as compensation to those who have lost their properties. They said that the compensation has been deposited in the accounts of 97 percent of the beneficiaries.

The officials explained to the CM that the cash was not deposited due to technical problems and errors in the bank accounts of 22,185 beneficiaries. The officials explained that the compensation money was not deposited in the beneficiary’s accounts due to non-linking of Aadhaar with the bank account, non-activation of the bank account and other incorrect details.

The CM ordered the officials to create awareness so that the beneficiaries who have not received the compensation should immediately go to the banks and update the KYC.The CM made it clear to the officials that everyone who is deserving should get government assistance and no one can be dissatisfied.

Meanwhile, due to delay in providing assistance to all the flood victims, the Chief Minister has postponed the scheduled `thank giving’ programme on Monday to the officers, volunteers, sanitary workers and NGOs, who worked extensively during flood relief operations. He said that this programme should be held only after completion of flood relief distribution.
