KTR Questions CM’s Plans for Musi River Transformation

Wednesday, December 18, 2024
BRS Working President KTR questioned the rationale behind the plan to transform the Musi River into something akin to the Thames in London. He expressed frustration over Congress leaders, who initially stated that the beautification of the Musi would cost ₹50,000 crores but have now escalated that figure to a whopping ₹1.5 lakh crores. KTR made these comments in a tweet on X.
He pointed out the inconsistencies in Congress’s claims, stating that they first mentioned a budget of ₹50,000 crores for beautifying the river, then said ₹70,000 crores would be spent, and now have announced a staggering ₹1.5 lakh crores. He questioned, “Is ₹1.5 lakh crores really necessary for Musi’s beautification?”
In contrast, KTR noted that the Kaleshwaram project, which has significantly improved the lives of Telangana farmers, was completed with a budget of ₹80,000 crores, highlighting the disparity in priorities. He criticized Congress for being vocal about the latter while contemplating exorbitant sums for the Musi project. He remarked, “Is it truly ₹1.5 lakh crores for beautification? Are we just throwing around zeros?”
KTR also challenged the government on various aspects of the Musi project, asking how many farmers would benefit, how many tanks would be constructed, the area that would come under cultivation, the increase in crop yield, and the industrial needs it would meet. He expressed bewilderment at why the Chief Minister seems more invested in the Musi project than the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, which affects the local populace.
He questioned the urgency and resources devoted to the Musi project, suggesting that the administration has been neglecting other crucial projects in favor of an expensive and possibly unnecessary transformation of the Musi. “What is the theme behind this plan to change Musi into something like the Thames? What’s the game plan?” he asked.
KTR accused Congress of using the inflated budget estimates for the Musi project as evidence of their financial mismanagement, asserting that there seems to be a conspiracy to misappropriate funds before any significant development takes place. He added that the Telangana society is closely monitoring the ongoing activities under the “Musi River Front” initiative, suggesting that Congress is engaging in corruption and misappropriation.
