The universal revered deity of Lord Venkateswara Swamy’s Tirumala recently became infamous for its adulterated ghee used in preparation of sacred Laddu prasadam. The `king pin’ in this scam is said to be YCP MP YV Subba Reddy, who is a close relative and confidant of former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
Though he quit from the Trust Board after electing to the Rajya Sabha, his predecessor Bhumana Karunakar Reddy or the Executive Officer didn’t dare to touch the suppliers, chosen by Subba Reddy. So the supply of adulterated ghee continued without any hindrance.
During his four year term as TTD chief, he became a `monarch’ in all matters and without giving any concern towards sanctity and sacredness of the revered place, he allegedly continued his looting.
He also became notorious in issuing VVIP passes for darshanams to his preferred people. In the history of TTD, no trust board chairman has issued such a large number of passes. That itself makes a record. In the process he has ignored all regulations and procedures.
As the chairman of TTD, the culmination of his anarchy is the affair of VVIP darshans! According to TTD rules, only six to 12 people per day should be given VVIP darshan under the Chairman’s quota. Six people are allowed for these darshans on each letter of recommendation. But, as if no regulations come on his way, he has issued on an average 60 letters per day, which amount to darshan for as many as 364 people.
Thus, during his four years as chairman, as many as 3,60,338 people availed VVIP darshanams as his guests. Many wonder who are all those people? Interestingly, a significant number of people are from outside the state. There may not be a possibility that all of them are his relatives, friends or even his party activists.
So, it is giving suspicion that there is any business involved in offering darshanams for a price? Suspicions are increasing as when the entire country was in great fear of Covid 19 also large numbers of VVIP passes were issued. The secret behind the issue of such a large number of passes is likely to lead to the reveal of another big scame at TTD.
Bhumana Karunakar Reddy was the chairman for a short time compared to Subba Reddy. But, during the 9 months of his tenure, he also issued passes to 43,000 people.That means on an average 172 people were visited per day. What is the secret behind this?
