Magnum Opus science fiction thriller Kalki 2898AD smashed numerous box office records and emerged as one of the biggest hits of all time with over 1000 Crores collection from all territories across the globe. The Prabhas starrer is the highest grossing as well as the most viewed film of the year so far. The stellar cast, stupendous performances, scintillating visuals and grandeur production values received a thumping response and wowed audiences in all languages.
Given the smashing success at the theatrical window, the hype surrounding the film’s debut on OTT platform is quite humongous. The makers have now officially announced that Kalki 2898AD will unspool on Amazon Prime on August 22nd in all South languages and Netflix will air the Hindi version on the same date. As the film received massive footfalls after its release on June 27th, it is likely to have strong viewership on OTT as well.
Made on a staggering budget of 600 crores by director Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898AD is about a modern-day avatar of Vishnu, a Hindu god, who is believed to have descended to earth to protect the world from evil forces. Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani and few others played significant roles in this dystopian thriller that blended mythological characters into a fictional world based on Hindu epic Mahabharata.
