YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Botsa Satyanarayana has been elected unopposed as the Member of Legislative Council (MLC) for Visakhapatnam district under the local bodies’ quota. The election saw Botsa as the YSRCP candidate, with the Andhra Pradesh coalition government opting not to field a candidate in the constituency.
The returning officer officially declared Botsa the winner, presenting him with the certificate of election. Initially, independent candidate Sheikh Shafi was also in the race but later withdrew his nomination, leaving Botsa as the sole candidate. This victory is seen as a significant boost for the YSRCP, especially in the wake of recent electoral challenges.
