Though BJP is having eight MLAs and 5 MPs, including two union ministers, it is failing to reach people in Telangana mostly said to be due to unilator attitude of the state party chief and union minister G Kishan Reddy. He is always seen in the company of `faceless’ leaders, but hardly accompanied by MPs or MLAs, who have substantial influence among people.
Among 8 BJP MLAs, 6 are first-time MLAs, but till now Kishan Reddy has never interacted with them guiding them in their performance in the assembly. The BJP that has increased its voting share in Lok Sabha elections seems to be now slowly fading away from its influence among people.
Party circles are alleging that fearing emergence of strong leadership within the party, Kishan Reddy is avoiding involving MLAs in the party activities. They were not seen in important programmes of the party or even not invited state level meetings.
As most of the MPs and MLAs are not from the BJP’s ideological background and mostly inducted from other parties, it is alleged that Kishan Reddy has been attempting to `disown’ them by the party core cadre. Particularly, he is fearful with the presence of leaders like Etela Rajender, D K Aruna, M Raghunandan Rao, CLP leader A Maheshwar Reddy, Raja Singh and Venkata Ramana Rao, who have an impressive cloud among people.
Recently, he launched party Kisan Morcha’s Helpline for loan waiver farmers. No MLA was involved in this program. Moreover, in the poster only JP Nadda and Kishan Reddy pictures are seen. Even MLAs were not invited for the recently held state office bearers meeting. Except Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, no MLA was seen in the meeting.
Though BJP is having numerous state level official spokesperson, no mechanism was evolved to provide inputs for them to express the party’s views on contemporary issues or any division of issues among them. Party circles worried if the same trend continues, few MLAs are likely to jump into Congress.
