The followers of then YCP MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy attempted to kill Nani with stones, rods and beer bottles.

At the strong room of the varsity, they attacked Pulivarthi Nani with rods, hammers and beer bottles. While trying to kill, Nani’s gunmen fired into the air. As the assassination attempt on Puliparthi Nani became a sensation, the Election Commission has summoned the Chief Secretary and DGP to Delhi for explanation and ordered them to take strict action.

Then, though the police registered a case and arrested 13 people, they were hesitant to include Mohit Reddy’s name in the case. But, it was included after the change of government in the state. So far 34 people were arrested in this case and Mohit Reddy was included as 37th accused.

MLA Pulivarthi Nani fought a legal battle in this matter. Mohit Reddy, who felt that arrest was inevitable, approached the High Court for anticipatory bail.
