Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has leveled serious allegations against BRS leaders, challenging them to undergo an inquiry into alleged corruption. Speaking during a budget discussion in the Assembly, Revanth Reddy claimed that the previous BRS government was involved in extensive financial misconduct.
Revanth Reddy accused the BRS administration of engaging in corruption amounting to Rs 700 crore in the distribution of sheep and Bathukamma sarees. He alleged that sarees, purportedly for the Bathukamma festival, were sourced by the kilogram from Surat and sold under false pretenses. Additionally, he claimed that the Outer Ring Road, valued at several lakh crores, was sold for a mere Rs 7,000 crore.
The Outer Ring Road, spanning 159 km, was initially constructed by the Congress party as a global example of infrastructure excellence. According to Revanth Reddy, its sale was manipulated for substantial financial gain. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a superficial investigation into the sheep distribution scheme, revealing Rs 700 crore in corruption. Revanth Reddy has offered to extend this inquiry to the KCR kits if BRS members are willing.
Regarding the Bathukamma saree scheme, Revanth Reddy criticized the misuse of funds meant to support handloom workers. He alleged that sarees brought from Surat were substandard, leading to public outrage and protests. He emphasized that the sarees were so poorly made that they were used to scare birds in fields rather than being worn.
Revanth Reddy also questioned the sale of valuable land in Ranga Reddy district, accusing Harish Rao of providing misleading figures on debt while neglecting to account for land sales. Despite the electoral defeat, Revanth Reddy contends that BRS leaders continue to make controversial statements.
