Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that 5-6 more airports will come up parallel to Bhogapuram Airport in Andhra Pradesh. Besides Bhogapuram airport, airports will be constructed at Donakonda, Dagdarthi, Kuppam and Nagarjunasagar.
After inspecting the works of Bhogapuram Airport on Thursday, Chandrababu clarified that this airport will become very important for Northern Andhra and in the future Visakha and Srikakulam will also come closer. He said that another airport will come up between Kakinada and Amalapuram.
Chandrababu assured that the authorities will provide 800 to 1000 acres for the construction of each airport. The Chief Minister suggested that airports should also be constructed in PPP models on the lines of national highways. He assured that the government will provide viability-gap fund for promoting airports.
The CM said that representatives of the construction companies say that Bhogapuram will be completed by June 2026, but he wants to complete it earlier.
Thanking people of Northern Andhra for giving a mammoth mandate for the NDA alliance in recent elections, he said that’s why he has chosen to visit this region first. He said that a beach road will also be constructed from Visakha to Bhogapuram and said that a beach road will also come from Srikakulam to Bhogapuram.
The CM said that the entire area between the existing national highway and the beach road will be developed as an industrial hub, by which the shape of Northern Andhra will be transformed completely. He said that this was his dream of many years.
After inspecting the airport works, the CM reviewed the progress of the works, tasks to be done, problems and ways to solve them with the representatives of GMAR and L&T companies.
Later speaking to the media, he expressed regret that the Bhogapuram airport was supposed to be made available by 2023, but it was not possible due to the attitude of the previous government. He said that Metro will also come to Visakhapatnam and it will be connected to the airport.
