The uncertainty over the release date of Ram Charan’s much anticipated film after RRR, Game Changer in the direction of Shankar Shanmugam continues even three years after it went on floors. Though Charan completed his part recently and Shankar himself revealed that there is only a few days of shooting left, there is still no clarity on whether the film makes it to the screens this year or not.
During the promotions of Indian 2, Shankar finally opened up about Game Changer for the first time in three years. He revealed that Charan’s portion is completed, but refused to give a potential release date. When Telugu media questioned Shankar about the status of the film, he revealed that the team is busy completing the pending portions and also the final product. However, he didn’t commit to a 2024 release because of the uncertainty over the post production activities.
Shankar’s films usually take a minimum of six months to complete the post production formalities after wrapping up the shooting phase. If that is the case, Game Changer might not release this year. Moreover, the film might find it difficult to get a solo release this year because other biggies have already occupied all ideal dates till December.
If Game Changer misses out on 2024, it might be pushed to Summer 2024 because Charan’s father Megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film Vishwambhara is also slated for release for Sankranti and there are no other options.
Given the scale of Game Changer and also the fact that Shankar will concentrate on Indian 3, there is a possibility that the film will release only in 2025.
Producer Dil Raju is the only person who could clear all this confusion. An official announcement is likely to be made sooner.
