Chandrababu Focus On Crucial Connectivity To Capital Amaravati

As development of the capital Amaravati remains a major priority for Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and already started exercises on how to revive various construction projects that were halted during YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime, is also focusing on crucial connectivity to the region.

Already, the Railways have resumed its efforts to provide railway connectivity by laying a new railway line linking with Amaravathi, which was kept in cold storage during the previous regime. In the face of criticism that there is no proper road to the capital, the government has been directed to give first priority to road connectivity in capital projects.

For this, it has been decided to extend the existing embankment by 200 feet from Prakasam Barrage to Venkatapalem Prakruti Ashram. It has been decided to build the existing seed access road up to Prakasam Barrage in one phase, flyover from PWD workshop to Sundarayya Nagar in the second phase and connectivity road to Manipal in the third phase.

The government has decided to extend the Seed Access Road which was stopped in the middle and connect it with the Trunk Road (Old National Highway). The CRDA has also advised the officials to complete this project as a first priority.

Even though there was Karakatta road in the past, the time has passed with court cases and farmers’ objections regarding the connection. This did not solve the connectivity problem. According to the master plan, a 200 feet wide road has been constructed from Dondapadu to Venkatapalem revenue border.

The seed access road, which is currently stopped at the Venkatapalem border, will be widened in three phases. In the first phase, it will be extended from Venkatapalem Revenue to the Old National Highway near Prakasam Barrage. A meeting was held with the farmers in the first phase of the land acquisition process.

In the second phase, a flyover road will be constructed at a distance of 1.8 km from the PWD workshop. In the third phase, a 4.8 km long road will be constructed up to Manipal and there will be a link to the national highway. CRDA officials say that even if a road is built up to Prakasam barrage, the traffic problem will not be solved much, it will be solved only if it is connected to the national highway.
