AP Urban Development Minister Dr. Ponguru Narayana deplored that even after ten years of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and the due date for remaining Hyderabad as joint capital has ended, the move for bifurcation of joint properties in Hyderabad is yet to take shape. He strongly objected to the contention of the Telangana government that properties existed in each state should be given to the respective state.
As this argument will enable the Telangana government to get ownership on all joint properties existing in the erstwhile joint capital city, Dr Narayana said that Sheila Bide Committee recommendations should be followed in this regard. Conducting a review with the officers of his department, he asked them to initiate necessary steps for bifurcation of joint properties at an earliest.
The Minister stated that the dispute between the two states is continuing regarding the companies that already have thousands of crores of worth assets. He said that the division between the institutions in the ninth and tenth schedule is still not coming to an end.
Minister Narayana inquired about the details of such institutions as some of them were also belonging to the Panchayat Raj Department. He decided to proceed according to the report of the Sheila Bide Committee. Officials said that the properties of AP Housing Board, Deccan Infrastructure and Land Holdings located in Hyderabad have been divided on the basis of population in the past.
Officials said that the expert committee that examined the bifurcation plan made some recommendations. It is explained that these have been brought to the notice of the Centre. Officials explained that according to AP Housing Board’s calculations, about Rs. 5,170 crore should come to Andhra Pradesh from Telangana. Minister Narayana directed the officers to take steps to resolve the cases pending in the Supreme Court and High Courts regarding the assets of the respective organizations.
