Former YCP MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, who was arrested on Wednesday evening in connection with the EVM vandalism on the polling day, was shifted to Nellore prison after the court remanded him for 14-days.

He was produced before the Macharla Junior Civil Judge on Wednesday night. The judge took up the investigation in four cases of intimidation of voters, including the destruction of EVMs. Pinnelli was granted bail in two cases and remanded in two other cases.

The judge ordered Pinnelli to be taken to Nellore Jail and he was taken away amid tight security. Later, they tried to attack another woman outside the polling station. On the day after polling, he along with his followers committed vandalism in Karampudi and also attacked and injured the CI who tried to prevent him.

Cases have been registered against Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy’s brother and followers in connection with these incidents. Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy got interim orders from the High Court without being arrested in these cases, which was extended three times.

However, the High Court on Wednesday dismissed his pleas for anticipatory bail as this flexibility expired. As a result, the police arrested Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, who was in a villa under Ravipadu of Narasaraopet Mandal and took him to Macherla Court under heavy custody.

After hearing the arguments of both sides, the judge remanded him in the cases of attacking the TDP agent Seshagiri Rao in Palvaigate polling center and also the attack on Karampudi CI.

In the wake of the arrest of Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and shifting him to Nellore, the police made heavy security arrangements in Macherla to prevent any untoward incident. After Pinnelli’s arrest, the leaders of Telugu Desam celebrated by shooting firecrackers. Telugu Desam activists reached the court in large numbers and raised slogans against Pinnelli.
