TDP leader Nimmala Ramanaidu officially assumed his role as Andhra Pradesh’s Water Resources Minister, expressing gratitude to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh. During his media address, Ramanaidu criticized the YSRCP for their negligence regarding the Polavaram project, which had progressed rapidly under the previous TDP administration. He pledged to review and expedite the project’s construction, secure additional funds through the NDA, and hold accountable those involved in any wrongdoing. He also addressed the previous government’s failure in managing agriculture and water resources, issuing directives for canal desilting and precautionary measures during the monsoon season.
Before taking office, Ramanaidu interacted warmly with several divyangs (differently-abled individuals), offering them sweets and announcing a pension increase from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000 starting next month. He reiterated his commitment to completing the Polavaram project and making the state fertile, criticizing the YSRCP for delaying the project by 20 years and not changing their approach despite electoral rejection.
