Tollywood director Prashanth Varma hogged the limelight with the overwhelming success of his maiden pan-India superhero film Hanu-Man. He is now one of the most sought-after directors in our country and his stupendous directional skills in Hanu-Man made him a favourite among Bollywood circles as well. This is why high-profile Hindi actor Ranveer Singh signed the dotted line to act in a mythological extravaganza titled Rakshas.

Prashanth Varma’s aspirations to gain foothold in Bollywood seemed to have hit a roadblock as Rakshas has been officially shelved due to budget constraints. Since the last few days, speculation is rife that Ranveer Singh backed out from the project due to creative differences. It is heard that both Ranveer and Varma couldn’t come to terms regarding various creative aspects relating to the film’s budget despite several discussions. Hence, they have decided to put the film on the back burner.

Mythri Movie Makers, the production house behind this ambitious project, officially released a press statement which officially confirms that Rakshas has been shelved. Both Ranveer and Varma announced that they will be collaborating in future. However, they didn’t exactly give out the reason for calling off the project.

Prashanth Varma will now move onto his next film Jai Hanu-Man which is the second installment in his superhero series. The lead hero and other details of this project are not yet announced. Hanu-Man actor Teja Sajja will be seen in a pivotal role.
