TDP leaders expressed grave concern that in Tadipatri, where large scale poll – related events took place, the police filed cases against the victims, leaving actual people who resorted to violence. Former Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and former MLC Deepak Reddy in a letter to the Chief Election Officer of the state, said that police are filing false cases against TDP activists.
They referred to the anarchy created by Rajampet DSP Chaitanya in Tadipatri, who resorted to large scale violence and attacks on TDP activists and still it is not made clear who actually posted him here.
It may be recalled that after midnight attacks on JC Prabhakar Reddy and other’s houses, beating TDP activists and workers in those houses severely, Anantapur SP who visited Tadipatri wondered and asked him who posted here? Immediately he was ordered to leave that place.
TDP leaders informed the CEO that till now it is not made clear who ordered Chaitanya to come here and resort to violence? They recalled that he attacked JC Asmit Reddy’s house and injured personal staff, drivers and neighbors. They demanded strict action against those who violated law.
Moreover, they said that YCP MLA Peddareddy and his followers surrounded the house of TDP candidate JC Asmith Reddy and created havoc by firing firecrackers and lethal weapons. TDP leaders deplored that these evil deeds done by the DSP under the supervision of the ECI are proof of the failure of the system.
Deepak Reddy wondered that even though he was not involved in the Tadipatri riots, a case has been registered under Section 307. On June 4, the leaders alleged that there was a conspiracy to keep Asmit Reddy and his family members away from the counting.
TDP leaders urged the CEO to stop arbitrary action of police in Tadipatri and protect the rights of opposition activists. Besides denying the rights, they said that it is clear that the illegal detention of Asmit Reddy and family members by the police is a mockery of justice.
