Chandrababu Fire At Post-Poll Violence, Telephoned DGP

Tuesday, November 5, 2024

TDP chief and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was angry towards YCP goons on rampage at various places and resorting to post- poll violence against TDP leaders and activists, but the police remained silent.

He telephoned the DGP and expressed his strong dissent and asked him to initiate strong action against goons and ensure law and order, besides protection to opposition activists.

He took severe exception to the YCP goons’ attack on TDP Chandragiri candidate Pulivarthy Nani in Tirupati, besides attack on TDP leaders in Palnadu and Tadipatri. He urged the DGP to deploy additional forces wherever necessary. He lamented that `YCP cowards’ who are afraid of defeat  are resorting to mindless violence.

Naidu wondered that when about 150 YCP bullies are resorting to violence and threatening people with knives and rods at the Padmavathi Mahila University, where Tirupati strong room is located, then what is the protection of the voter’s verdict?

He deplored that violence incidents are unchecked even after polling in Tadipatri and Palnadu, where YCP goons resort to violence even before the police.

He alleged that it was due to police failure to control violence on the polling day at several places, which has given courage for people to resort to post-poll violence. He demanded that the Election Commission of India (ECI), DGP and concerned SPs should take immediate steps towards post-poll violence.

Meanwhile, TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh also condemned  YCP’s mob attack on Chandragiri TDP candidate Pulivarti Nani. He accused that due to fear of resorting to its original `faction culture’. He said he had spoken to Nani and assured to take care of better treatment for all injured. He asked the police to take strict action against the perpetrators of the attacks.
